Califone® Announces Winners of 2002-2003 Scholarship Contest
San Fernando, CA – Califone International, Inc., a major manufacturer of quality audio equipment for the educational community, has announced the winners of its 2002-2003 Scholarship Contest.
First, second and third place winners were chosen in each of three age groups, with US Savings Bonds from $50 to $300 in value awarded to students and up to $1000 worth of Califone products presented to their schools. Pre-K through Second Grade students were judged on their entries of the Califone Official Coloring Sheet, while Grades Three through Six students submitted their own original drawings, and Grades Seven and Eight crafted original essays or short stories. All entries were based on the contest theme, “Califone Helps Me Learn.”
First place winner in the Grade 7-8/Essay Category was Erika Overstreet of Belvedere Middle School in Los Angeles, CA. In the Grade 3-6/Original Drawing Category, first place was awarded to Valerie Kraus of Urbain H. Plavan Elementary School in Fountain Valley, CA, and in the K-2/Coloring Sheet Category the first prize went to Angie Gonzalez of Thacker Avenue Elementary School in Kissimmee, FL.
