Califone® Introduces Trio of Wireless Audio Products for the Classroom

The National Educational Computing Conference (NECC), Seattle – Califone International, leaders in the field of educational and professional audio, announces today the introduction of three new wireless audio products for the classroom – a portable wireless public address (PA) system, a personal sound amplifier, and a multi-station cassette recorder/player.

The PresentationPro PA319 is the first completely portable wireless PA system, with 16 channels of UHF (Ultra High Frequency). As a single, 30-watt portable system for presentations to a large group or installed in multiple classrooms, the UHF PresentationPro is the clear alternative to complicated, expensive multi-component systems.

The PA-100UHF Wireless Handheld is lightweight and compact enough to tote on your shoulder while the fifteen-watt amplifier is powerful enough to address medium-to large sized groups.

The patented technology of the 3432IR Infrared Cassette Recorder/Player provides full fidelity audio up to 15 feet away without cumbersome cables. By using the corresponding cordless headphones, any number of listeners can listen simultaneously with no reduction in signal quality.

Certainly, schools are demanding more wireless products,” said Terry Soley, Califone president. “These new wireless audio devices allow schools maximum flexibility in delivering audio in any location on a school campus without being tied to a hard wired network.

As stated in the May 2003 issue of American School Board Journal, children with moderate or minimal hearing problems sometimes go undetected. As a result, reports Susan Black, many students with minor hearing problems experience a slow but steady decline in academic achievement. However, schools can make numerous accommodations to positively impact the ability of hard-of-hearing students to hear their teacher’s voice and fully participate in classroom learning.

The United States Access Board, an independent federal agency whose primary mission is accessibility for people with disabilities, stated that acoustical performance is an important consideration in the design of classrooms. As many classrooms were built during a time when acoustics was not a significant concern, it is critical for administrators to consider the affects poor acoustics may have on student learning.
