Assistive Listening Benefits

Sometimes when you have equipment that you use on a daily basis, it can sometimes feel like a relief to know that it can do more than you had originally thought. Just like we as humans are able to multi-task, so can certain products. When audio visual products can add a benefit to a classroom environment and more specifically, to students with special needs, discovering how best to apply the newfound functions can be quite rewarding for all involved.

“We use the Califone classroom amplification system because it allows the teacher to effectively reach all students in the classroom, including hearing impaired students.”

As anyone who’s spoken in front of a class can testify, it can be sometimes difficult to speak to a room full of students and ensure that your voice is heard. There may be students in the back who can become distracted and then potentially disruptive to others if they’re unable to hear what’s being said. The issue can be compounded if any students need an assistive listening device. The problem can be easily remedied by installing the Infrared Classroom  Audio System. Its array speakers provide complete coverage within the classroom so no students are left out. The sound field amplification makes for a learning environment where students can properly listen what they are being taught and pay attention to presentations made by their peers.

But what about students who may need some additional audio amplification? The control panel of the PA-IRSYS has a line out feature that allows you to connect an assistive-listening system so every student with a special hearing need can have individualized support. Shares Jim Dieckmann, a Library Media Teacher at the Clearview Charter Elementary School in Chula Vista, CA: “We use the Califone classroom amplification system because it allows the teacher to effectively reach all students in the classroom, including hearing impaired students.” With improved hearing, they are better able to focus on the task at hand and avoid falling behind in the curriculum. This enhanced audio can also prevent excessive or outside noises from interrupting their concentration.
