A Multi-Functional Remote
In the midst of a chaotic school day, some semblance of organization, flexibility and convenience when using audio visual equipment can be most welcome. Incorporating a media player into a school environment that can help you teach languages, choir, or even dance is a win-win scenario.
One of the great features the 2300 series of Music Maker™ multimedia players offers is their versatility. But when you’re moving about a class full of students, the best tool you can employ might be its remote control. The RC-2300 allows you to control and adjust the different features found on the MP3-capable Music Maker, Music Maker Plus and Infrared Music Maker Plus from a distance.
Familiarizing yourself with the functioning of the RC-2300 will create immense flexibility in how lessons are delivered. To your benefit, and that of your students, your focus can remain on the tasks at hand so you can provide your students with the necessary support and attention they require. Like the remote control (RC-2400) for the Performer Plus™, the RC-2300 has the same fundamental functions such as ‘Power’, ‘Volume’ up/down (read about volume control for PA equipment too), mute, and the ‘Bass’ and ‘Treble’ up/down controls which helps students in the development of music activities. Shares Mark Stevens, a symphonic/jazz band assistant director from Brownsville, OR: “The remote for the 2395AV-02 allows the machine to be placed at various locations in the classroom. This lets the students focus their practice sessions concerning complex pieces of Band Literature without having to get up & down to pause & rewind multiple times. The adjustable Tone Controls (especially the Bass Control) allow for a very accurate reproduction of the Literature being worked on.”
In addition to these controls, you also have the option of switching between CD, Tape and AM/FM radio depending upon what type of medium you or your students want to use. The remote control is useful when you are using the CD player to play audio books, songs or other types of language activities. When in CD mode, some of the controls allow you to ‘Repeat’ a single track on the CD so it plays over and over again or you can push ‘Random’ and the player will jump around and select between random tracks on its own. You can ‘Stop’, ‘Pause’ or ‘Play’ a CD and while a specific track is playing, you have the option of pressing ‘Skip’ to move to the next track or back to the previous one or you can ‘Scan’ to rewind or fast-forward within the track itself. The Music Maker players have the ability to program up to 20 different tracks by pressing the ‘Program’ button and using the numbers 1 through +10 on the remote to custom create your own play list that will play tracks in a particular order that you depict. The ‘Time’ button on the remote will show on the player’s LCD display how much time is left on a track. The ‘Intro’ button plays the first ten seconds of each track consecutively so you can quickly sample and run through a CD in order to better apply its content in correlation with your lesson plans in a convenient manner.
