Creative Teaching with The Sneetches
Congrats to Nicholle Taurins as the winner of our latest Learning Center contest!
Since March 2nd was the 108th birthday of Theodore Seuss Giesel, and Califone cassette players and classroom boomboxes have played and replayed more Dr. Seuss stories than any other brand of classroom AV machine, we offered (Learning to Read with Dr. Seuss) a Spirit SD Learning Center (1886PLC) to the first educator to share a pic on our Facebook page (Califone International) showing that very scene.
Taurins, who works in Grand Rapids Public Schools, posted an image of two young readers enjoying “The Sneetches” by Dr. Seuss, one clutching her plush Sneetch and the other using the “Read with Me” app on the Nook.
Even with the growth of mobile devices (supplied by the school or in a BYOD / BYOT approach), having multiple students within a classroom listening to their own read-alongs out loud can be cacophonous. This circles back for the need to have 1:1 sound fields (aka headphones) or a jackbox available if small groups of students will be listening to a single device.
