As handheld audio devices are showing promise they can enhance teaching and learning, classroom educators are choosing to incorporate these computing devices into their curriculum. With the increased usage of digital classroom tools and the increased prevalence of classroom (computer based) learning centers and language labs, it is critical for educators to consider the importance of audio protection. Child-Sized Headphones Ensure Safety and Audibility for Young Learners

San Fernando, CA (March, 2008) — Selected by the readers of District Administration, the Listening First Stereo Headphones from Califone International, Inc., were included on the magazine’s 2007-2008 list of Top 100 Products.

In each issue of District Administration, editors present the products, books and materials that they believe are important to their readers, which previously turned into a list of top products at the end of the year. For the 2007-08 Top 100 Products list, editors wanted their readers to choose the products that made the list as they know from firsthand experience how products work in the classroom. San Fernando, CA — Califone and the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) continued their messaging advocating for the safe use of personal audio technology in classrooms.Representatives from the two organizations met at the just concluded NECC conference to discuss how to reach educators and students to integrate safe listening practices. ASHA recently found that 40 percent of students reported they set their music players’ volume too loud, or above 85 decibels, which is a level hearing experts recommend not be exceeded. (more…)
