Supports Buds Campaign

Califone continues its support for the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and their educational “Listen To Your Buds” Campaign, which aims to educate teachers and students about the proper use of personal audio technology.

One facet of the campaign is the Safe Listening Concert Series, which continues September 22nd at the Glendale Civic Auditorium in Glendale, CA. Held for nearly 1,000 first- and second-graders, Parents’ Choice Foundation award-winning performer Linda Severt will headline the concert. A unique family entertainer, songwriter, and musician, Severt will weave music, circus arts, puppetry, and ASHA’s health safety message together for a fun-filled and educational experience for the children. Severt is a member of a national coalition of Parents’ Choice Foundation award-winning musicians who specialize in children’s music and have taken the “Buds” pledge, a commitment to sharing the Buds message about safe listening with kids. Previous concerts have been held in Chicago and Washington, D.C.

Listen To Your Buds

The Califone collaboration with ASHA began in 2007. The importance of students listening to audio not exceeding 85dB was a key factor behind the launch of the MP3 player by Califone, which was the first model to integrate the feature.

The Listen to Your Buds Campaign recently won the Award of Excellence in the American Society of Association Executives & The Center for Association Leadership’s 2009 Associations Advance America Awards. Now in its 19th year, the AAA Awards program recognizes associations and industry partners that improve the quality of life in America with innovative programs in education, skills training, standard setting, business and social innovation, knowledge creation, citizenship and community service.
