Listening centers help teachers offer differentiated learning opportunities to smaller groups of students. The Califone series of Stereo Listening Centers tailor this learning experience to the media source already in your classroom or library. The rugged jackbox of this eight position system has both 3.5mm and 1/4” plugs to connect to the most popular audio players (including computers and stereos) and offers room for expansion with spots for two extra listeners. Like the jackbox, the high quality stereo headphones are also made with rugged ABS plastic so they won't shatter. They feature ambient noise-reducing earcups which block out external noises and reduce the need to increase the volume. The headphone rack or storage case will keep everything together until the next activity.
“Over the many, many years I've been a librarian, I've used Califone record players, cassette players, and now CD-boom boxes with the Califone label.
The CD player on one of our new Califone boom boxes (model 2395, purchased by my school through FCPS) stopped working, and displayed an error message. (It had been used in a first grade classroom, and wasn't working when the new teacher started teaching this year.)
I called Califone -- and the first good sign was I got a real person, who connected me directly to another real person in Customer Service. I gave Michael the serial number, and he looked it up and told me it was purchased in the spring, 2005. Michael told me if we paid for the postage (since it was purchased last spring), he would give me a return number, and I could send it to their repair partner, Camcor in Burlington, NC. Camcor would either repair it or replace it.
I took the boom box to UPS Monday, paid my $8.03, and today (Friday) we received a brand new replacement CD-boom box. I was so pleased, I called Califone, got a real person who connected me with Patrick, the senior person in Customer Service. I asked Patrick if I could share my positive experience with all of our elementary librarians. (I told him he might receive a flood of requests.) He told me that they want to hear from their customers, and they are here to meet our needs.
Just thought I'd pass along another good experience!” Nancy Davis Annandale Terrace
