The 3068 delivers performance at an economical price for 1:1 instruction in listening centers and library uses. One advantage of the 3068 is its ability to switch between typical monaural functions such as in English Language Learning / English Language Development, language labs, speech pathology applications and the stereo mode for use in computer workstations and music appreciation classes. Califone designed this headphone with the stereo/mono user switch for optimal sound quality. The use of an internal processor (seen on a competitive product) to attempt this function has been shown to create quality issues which can include but are not limited to: decreased frequency response, increased distortion and diminished volume levels for students.

“The 3068AV headphone keeps the student focused by keeping out exterior sounds, fits the computer port so that no sound bleeds out around and they are comfortable to wear.” Sandra Dennehy K-6 Principal Peter Kirk Elementary School Kirkland, WA
A: The 1214AVPY, though now discontinued, is a monaural jackbox that is best used with monaural headphones in the 2924AV series or the 3068AV switchable mono/stereo headphone as well as with cassette player/recorders. Monaural products are not compatible with stereo applications as the sound will only come out of one ear. A stereo jackbox or mini stereo jackbox is compatible with a CD player and other media players as it too is a stereo unit and provides stereo surround sound. The 2924AVPS stereo headphones can be used with this jackbox to ensure that audio comes out of both earcups. Click here to find out the differences between stereo and monaural audio equipment.
A: Yes. Califone Switchable Stereo/Mono Headphone 3068AV features dual volume controls which enable the users to adjust the volume separately on each earcup to the preferred level.
A: The difference between a headphone and a headset is a headphone is used only for listening and a headset can be used for listening and capturing audio responses (used by many language/reading programs). Put another way, a headset is a headphone with a microphone attached to it.
