A: Unlike some other consumer-oriented multimedia players, the MP3 player was designed to play only audio files. Since audio files are much smaller than photos or videos, much less apace is needd to store the files.
A: If the screen on your MP3 player/recorder becomes frozen, it may simply need to be reset. You can do this by pressing the reset button located in back of the player. If the screen is still frozen after you’ve reset it, please contact our Tech Support Dept for assistance.
A: The 8100 MP3 player is WMA-DRM9 compatible. Please check what DRM version you are using and retry the process used to download and sync the files with the 8100. Some websites require the use of their own utility program to download and sync files with MP3 players to activate the DRM. If you are still unable to sync your files to the player, please contact our Tech Support Dept. for assistance. A: Yes. To rename a file that wasn’t initially created via the MP3 Player, you would connect the MP3 Player to your computer, then select the file needing a different name; right click to select the Properties option, then go to the Summary tab to change the name in the Title field. Once the desired title is created via computer, it will automatically be updated in the MP3 Player.
A: The Back Light setting of the MP3 Player enables users to select the amount of time before the backlight on the display turns itself off to conserve power. The four options are 5 sec., 10 sec., 30 sec., and Disable (which means the backlight does not turn on). A: The A-B Loop button on the MP3 Player is used to play a selected section of a track repeatedly. Pressing the A-B Loop button once will mark the start point of the section. An “A-“ will appear in the display. Pressing the A-B Loop button a second time will mark the end of the selection. “A-B” will appear in the display, and the selected section will begin looping. To cancel loop playback, press the A-B Loop button again or press the OK button. A: The 8101 MP3 player is compatible with .mp3, .wma, .wav, and WMA-DRM9 digital files. Read more about using these file types. These digital files can be downloaded directly from a computer onto up to seven MP3 players simultaneously using a 7-port USB hub.
A: The MP3 Player automatically recharges when it is connected to a computer through the USB port or via an AC adapter. Please note the following AC adapter spec requirement: Output voltage: 5VDC; Output current capacity: 0.7A or greater; Connector style: 2.35mm OD / 0.7mm ID / 9.5mm barrel length.
A: After using the Easy CD-DA Extractor, first make sure that the files to be converted are in your computer. Once this has been done, you can convert them and then transfer them to the 8100 MP3 player.
A: Files from the audiobooks website are AAC or AA format. Once they are downloaded in the computer they need to be converted to MP3 format for the 8100 MP3 player to be able to play them. They can use one of the many programs in the market to convert AAC or AA files into MP3 files and vice-versa. You can read more about converting files by clicking here
A: You need to convert the files that you downloaded from AAC format to MP3, WMA or WAV format before you transfer them to the 8100. There are several programs that can convert AAC format files into MP3 format files and vice versa. One program which teachers have tried and liked is called Easy CD-DA Extractor.
A: Yes. Califone MP3 Player is compatible with Digital Rights Management (DRM) files. You can download and playback any audio files that requires downloading of the DRM.

A: Yes, there is a very tiny, round hole which is the reset button. It is located on the left backside of the 8100 MP3 Player. The reset feature would be used if the 8100 wouldn’t turn on. It will charge and looks to be fully charged, but won’t turn on. This isn’t uncommon with this type of electronic product and can be easily fixed.
