“Individual Storage Headphones are an excellent addition to any classroom. The adjustable stereo headphones are about half the cost of other models and come in moisture-resistant plastic bags that can be personalized with students' or family members' names. School personnel these days are concerned about the unhealthful aspects (lice, for example) of sharing headphones so the price and the bag feature are particulary attractive.”

“Our district has a strict technology standard that each student must master touch type by the eighth grade.) We thought that the special coloring and coding on the Kids Keyboard would be very helpful to our kindergarten through second graders. Learning Centers
“Over the many, many years I've been a librarian, I've used Califone record players, cassette players, and now CD-boom boxes with the Califone label.
The CD player on one of our new Califone boom boxes (model 2395, purchased by my school through FCPS) stopped working, and displayed an error message. (It had been used in a first grade classroom, and wasn't working when the new teacher started teaching this year.)
I called Califone -- and the first good sign was I got a real person, who connected me directly to another real person in Customer Service. I gave Michael the serial number, and he looked it up and told me it was purchased in the spring, 2005. Michael told me if we paid for the postage (since it was purchased last spring), he would give me a return number, and I could send it to their repair partner, Camcor in Burlington, NC. Camcor would either repair it or replace it.
I took the boom box to UPS Monday, paid my $8.03, and today (Friday) we received a brand new replacement CD-boom box. I was so pleased, I called Califone, got a real person who connected me with Patrick, the senior person in Customer Service. I asked Patrick if I could share my positive experience with all of our elementary librarians. (I told him he might receive a flood of requests.) He told me that they want to hear from their customers, and they are here to meet our needs.
Just thought I'd pass along another good experience!”

Listening Centers
“When our listening centers were installed, we didn't have additional funding to buy stories and so we asked faculty to record some for us instead. The stories created a more nurturing environment because the children were listening to familar voices. One day, a student was concentrating at the listening center and had a sudden realization – his face lit up and he cried out "that's Mrs. Doyle!" (head of PreK-4). It was hysterical and a pure delight!”
